My last day was like a perfect Sunday (yes I know it was Friday, but it felt like a Sunday). I stopped at Place des Vosges and sat in the sun sipping my latte and eating my bread. I then wandered and did some leche-vitrine, which the literal translation is window licking. I practically laid my forehead on the window and sighed at the beauty within. I found a cute little eccentric shop and bought a couple of wee gifts. I searched out the second hand stores and bought myself a red velveteen jacket. A red velveteen jacket people. The irony is that it is from Sears. I continued roaming aimlessly up and down and around the streets people watching and window licking.
I stopped at a restaurant called Philosophie where I had a brilliant lunch a previous day. I am glad I did. I scored a table outside and ordered a beer and the tomato tart tartine. It was the most delectable tomato dish of delight that I have had in a long time. It was served with a side salad and some bread to sop up the juice. I sat for over an hour enjoying my lunch and then my latte. I shopped some more and then stopped at Cafe Hugo for an aperitif. I sat watching the people in the park who were all out enjoying the beautiful day. Finally I realized it was time to go. I went to a fromagerie and got some brie and the boulangerie to get a baguette. I picked up my luggage from the hotel and headed to my hotel by the airport.
I sat cross legged in bread tearing off chunks of bread and scooping up the creamy brie. Even though I was in a functional hotel by the airport the spirit of Paris still lingered.
